DEUTSCHE POST INVESTS IN E-COMMERCE VENTURE CAPITAL FIRM
Deutsche Post, the fast-growing German postal service and logistics group, has taken a 10-percent participation in “zouk holding ltd,” an e-commerce venture capital firm.
The firm provides startup equity and know-how to young Internet ventures.
The German postal group said that its involvement in the firm will give it contacts with potential customers and partners.
Klaus Zumwinkel, chairman of Deutsche Post, said that there is an “enormous potential” in the booming e-commerce market for his logistics group.
In a separate development, Deutsche Post said that its on-line shopping portal, eVITA, was the busiest site in the German Internet marketplace during December. eVITA attracted 642,000 visits, a 48-percent increase compared to the previous month.
