Kansas City International Airport sees surge in cargo volumes

The airport handled 15.3 million pounds of airfreight in February and 462,123 pounds of air mail, a year-over-year increase of 8 percent and 10.2 percent, respectively.

   Kansas City International Airport saw air cargo tonnage surge 8.8 percent year-over-year in February to 15.8 million pounds, which consisted of both freight and mail, according to figures from the City of Kansas City, Mo. Aviation Department, the airport said.
   Airfreight volumes totaled 15.3 million pounds in February, while air mail volumes reached 462,123 pounds, a year-over-year increase of 8 percent and 10.2 percent, respectively.
   Kansas City International Airport opened in 1972 and spans across over 10,000 acres, featuring three runways and three terminals.
