POMTOC breaking ground on Miami port gates
Groundbreaking ceremonies will be held Thursday for the Port of Miami Terminal Operating Company's (POMTOC) new, state-of-the-art terminal gate system.
The $4.5 million project includes a 16-gate complex with the latest gate technology. It is expected to significantly improve gate throughput at the terminal, which is the Port of Miami's common user terminal.
The POMTOC gate project is separate from a Port of Miami gate project. The port gates will provide a new access system for the overall port cargo area, while the POMTOC gates are a second set of gates specifically for the POMTOC terminal.
The project is scheduled to be completed by March 2007.
