TSA “not planning 2nd rate increase”
Following the decision of the Canadian Transpacific Stabilization Agreement carriers to implement a second eastbound rate increase in August on top of the May 1 increase, the Asia-to-U.S. Transpacific Stabilization Agreement said it is not considering a second-stage increase this year.
“That is a more typical practice in the Canada trade,” said Niels Erich, spokesman for the Transpacific Stabilization Agreement.
“In fact, when (the) Canadian Transpacific Stabilization Agreement first announced its 2004 rate program and the May 1 increase, it indicated that there might be a later one, as well,” Erich added.
