MEDITERRANEAN SHIPPING CO. STARTS CARIBBEAN SERVICE
Mediterranean Shipping Co. (USA) Inc. has started a weekly Caribbean service linking Rio Haina, Dominican Republic; Kingston, Jamaica; and Port au Prince, Haiti; with Miami via Freeport.
'It's a logical extension of our well-established Miami/Freeport service, which already utilizes Freeport as a hub for cargoes transshipped to the Americas and overseas,' said Nicola Arena, president of MSC (USA) Inc.
The carrier is also providing a second loop that will serve the eastern Caribbean destinations of Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, St. Lucia, Guyana and Suriname.
MSC has named Rocco L. Basile as line manager for its Caribbean service. Basile was line manager for the company's South Africa/Australia service. He joined MSC in 1994 and has worked as assistant line manager in the South Atlantic and Gulf, and West Coast South American services.
