New Orleans Cold Storage facility reopens

   New Orleans Cold Storage (NOCS), a leading Gulf Coast exporter of frozen poultry, has reopened on of its three warehouses that were heavily damaged by Hurricane Katrina, officials from the Port of New Orleans said Thursday.

   The Alvar Street warehouse, which is located on Port of New Orleans property, has capacity to story 12 million pounds of chilled product and can blast freeze 280,000 pounds of poultry a day.

   NOCS said it would have its first ship call by the “Bukhta Omega” at the Jourdan Road Terminal Jan. 30, with weekly calls set the following two weeks as well.
