Florida East Coast Railway announced a 26 percent year-over-year increase in volumes and the opening of a new train dispatch center in Jacksonville, Fla.
Florida East Coast Railway (FECR) announced a 26 percent year-over-year increase in volumes since last July, when the railroad opened its Intermodal Container Transfer Facility (ICTF) adjacent to Port Everglades.
The ICTF is used to transfer international intermodal containers arriving or departing by ship and domestic containers and trailers with cargo moving through South Florida.
In addition, the railroad opened a train dispatch center in Jacksvonille, Fla. July 11, equipped with its new Wabtec Train Management Dispatching System. The system is being utilized to assist FECR Train Dispatchers manage traffic and track warrant control to increase operational proficiency, train safety and improve customer experience.
Based in Jacksonville, Fla., FECR is a 351-mile freight rail system that runs along Florida’s Atlantic Coast.
