ATLAS AIR ADDS CONTRACT WITH MARTINAIR HOLLAND
Atlas Air Inc., the Purchase, N.Y.-based charterer of air freighters to international airlines, has signed a contract with Martinair Holland.
The deal calls for Atlas Air to provide a 747-200 freighter aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance, operating between Amsterdam and Africa, starting in mid April.
“Industry forecasts predict that overall African air trade will grow between 5 percent and 6 percent per year through 2019 and, as a part of our focus on global expansion, we have been actively seeking new business in this market,” said Richard Shuyler, chief executive officer of Atlas Air.
Martinair already offers freighter service on three 747-200s and six MD-11s.
