The French Ocean carrier took delivery of its second of three GUYANAMAX series vessels, all of which will operate on its joint North Europe French Guiana North Brazil service with Marfret.
Ocean carrier CMA CGM announced it took delivery of the 2,100-TEU CMA CGM Marseille July 29 in South Korea, the second of the three GUYANAMAX series vessels the French carrier will acquire, all of which will be placed on the North Europe French Guiana North Brazil (NEFGUI) loop to increase its capacity 18 percent.
CMA CGM previously took delivery of the first GUYANAMAX series vessel July 21, the CMA CGM Cayenne. The series, built by Korean shipyards Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, will be completed in September with the CMA CGM Saint Laurent.
According to ocean carrier schedule and capacity database BlueWater Reporting, the NEFGUI currently has a rotation of Algeciras, Rotterdam, Tilbury, Rouen, Le Havre, St. Maarten-Philipsburg, Port of Spain, Degrad des Cannes, Belem, Fortaleza, Natal and Algeciras. It operates with six vessels with an average capacity of 1,678 TEUs, four provided by CMA CGM and two provided by Marfret.
It is currently not clear when the vessels will join the NEFGUI service, based on both carriers’ schedules.
