TACA CARRIERS LOWER BUNKER SURCHARGES

   The shipping lines of the Trans-Atlantic Conference Agreement have notified shippers of a reduction in the level of their bunker adjustment factors, effective May 16.

   For transatlantic shipments to, from and via Atlantic and Gulf coast ports, the charges will decrease from $216 to $158 per 20-foot container and from $432 to $316 per 40-foot or 45-foot box.

   For cargoes to, from and via Pacific ports, the bunker charges will drop from $324 to $237 per 20-footer and from $648 to $474 per 40-foot or 45-foot container.

   The Trans-Atlantic Conference Agreement carriers are: Atlantic Container Line, Hapag-Lloyd, Maersk Sealand, Mediterranean Shipping Co., NYK Line, Orient Overseas Container Line and P&O Nedlloyd.
