Kerry Logistics opens new IT development center

The Hong Kong-based logistics services provider opened an IT development center in Penang, Malaysia today.

   Kerry Logistics Network Limited opened its first IT development center in Penang, Malaysia today to harness internet technology in support of its growing international operations, the company said.
   The new center will be used as an offshore support facility where resources amongst different offices around the globe will be shared, in a bid to drive operational efficiency at lower costs.
   Penang, which has built up its reputation as the ‘Silicon Valley of the East,’ has an economy that has developed at an impressive rate over the past 10 years.
   “Kerry Logistics’ global presence and experience in the logistics arena will help strengthen Penang’s position as a regional logistics and IT hub,” Rt. Hon. Mr Lim Guan Eng, Chief Minister Penang said in a statement. “Kerry Logistics follows a long list of Forbes 500 companies that have sited their principal facilities here. The rapid expansion plan that Kerry Logistics has in Penang will also provide development opportunities for our local talents in gaining international exposure.”
