IBM PARTNERS WITH VASTERA TO SELL TRADE SOLUTIONS
International Business Machines and Vastera, a provider of logistics solutions, have begun a strategic alliance in which IBM will market Vastera’s software within IBM’s public sector group, including federal and state agencies.
Vastera’s solutions will “include IBM e-servers, business software and databases,” said Mark Ferrer, president and chief executive officer of Vastera, which is based in Dulles, Va.
Possible customers include government contractors who are looking to the commercial sector for software and solutions to use in the Department of Homeland Security, said Tony Bianchini, a Vastera spokesman.
Vastera and IBM also said that IBM has licensed Vastera’s TradeSphere solution to manage IBM’s import and export operations in the U.S. and Canada.
