FESCO ADDS U.S./RUSSIAN FAR EAST SURCHARGES
FESCO is introducing a Russian Far East ports winter surcharge and
an eastbound reefer peak season surcharge applicable to its transpacific service to and
from Russian Pacific ports.
The Russian ports’ winter charge will be applied to all cargoes
destined to or loaded at Magadan, Petropavlosk and Korsakov from Jan. 1, 2000 through
April 15.
The winter surcharge will be 15 percent of the total ocean freight
charges for shipments via the port of Magadan, five percent for Petropavlosk and seven
percent for Korsakov.
FESCO’s eastbound refrigerated container peak season surcharge will be
$500 per container, effective Nov. 11 through March 1, 2000. It will apply to shipments
from the ports of Magadan, Petropavlosk and Korsakov.
FESCO said that eastbound refrigerated shipments have increased
dramatically, while westbound refrigerated container volumes have dropped, resulting in a
costly imbalance situation.
