BP SIGNS DEAL WITH CLEARCROSS
BP, the oil and gas giant, has signed a deal to purchase ClearCross Inc.'s suite of planning, compliance and documentation software.
The deal represents a $9-million investment in technology and information systems to manage BP's regulatory processes associated with the development, sale and distribution of its oil and chemical products in more than 150 countries.
ClearCross' software will support the cross-border movement of BP products by creating and distributing required documentation, such as material Safety Data Sheets, transport emergency cards and labels, to be available in 37 languages to cover the correct usage, handling and transportation for all products, quantities and variations. BP will also have access to extensive databases to help assess government regulations.
Castrol, part of the BP Group, has used ClearCross' software since February 2000, and more recently, BP Chemicals began using its technology.
