GOLAR LNG PICKS ULYSSES SOFTWARE FOR VESSELS
Golar LNG, a liquefied natural gas carrier, said Monday it has contracted with Ulysses Systems (U.K.) Ltd. for a suite of maritime software on all of Golar's LNG ships and in its shoreside offices.
Golar will use Ulysses' Task Assistant software to provide planned maintenance, purchasing, crewing and safety applications.
The software suite “goes beyond procedural compliance” via a “task-orientated approach (that) provides instant access to up-to-the-minute information relevant to the job at hand,” said Panteleimon Pantellis, director, Ulysses Systems.
Golar has four newbuildings due for delivery over the next two years in addition to six vessels it current operates. The carrier expects Ulysses’ software to save $70,000 per vessel per year by minimizing gaps in information.
