TRIPARTITE SHIPPERS TO MEET IN JAPAN SEPT. 10-12
The Japan Shippers Council will host the tripartite meeting of shippers associations from Asia, Europe and North America, schedule for Sept. 10-12 in Yokohama.
Participating shippers' associations include the European Shippers’ Council; the National Industrial Transportation League; Japan Shippers’ Council; Canadian Shippers’ Council; Singapore National Shippers’ Council; Hong Kong Shippers’ Council; Korean Shippers’ Council; Thai National Shippers’ Council and The Federation of ASEAN Shippers’ Councils.
The provisional agenda calls for updates on national ocean shipping reform efforts; plans for the upcoming Organization of Economic Cooperationg and Development workshop on regulatory reform; ocean cargo liability for loss and damage; World Trade Organization efforts; air-freight issues; matters pertaining to best practices and service performance indicators; development, and improvements to the Global Shippers’ Network (http://www.globalshippersnetwork.net), and other methods to improve shipper communications and exchanges of information.
As has been the custom at past meetings, a joint declaration will be issued following the conference.
