GRAHAM PEIRCE RETIRES FROM SAFMARINE
Graham Peirce, the liner director of Safmarine, will retire at the end of March, after a career of 16 years with the Safmarine group.
Peirce transferred to Safmarine (Pty) Ltd. as liner director in 1987 after occupying senior management positions with the Rennies group, then a South African sister company of Safmarine. Peirce also ran CMB Transport after Safmarine acquired a stake in the Belgian shipping line, which was subsequently absorbed into Safmarine.
Safmarine has appointed Ivan Heesom-Green, currently Safmarine’s liner executive for South African-based trades, as its new liner director, based at the carrier’s head office in Antwerp.
Heesom-Green will be responsible for the operation of Safmarine’s trade routes worldwide. He will also oversee trade finance, fleet management and operations, multi-purpose vessel services and growth, development and project activities.
Safmarine is a sister company of Maersk Sealand within the A.P. Moller group.
