Hutchison awarded 30-year concession for Laem Chabang ro/ro terminal
Hong Kong-based port operator Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) said today that a new joint venture company, formed by an HPH-led consortium, has been awarded a 30-year concession to build and operate a new roll-on/roll-off terminal at the port of Laem Chabang.
HPH said the terminal will also have general cargo handling capability, with a total quay length of 500 meters and a depth alongside of 16 meters.
“Thailand is now the automotive manufacturing hub in Southeast Asia and investing in this new ro/ro terminal is clearly in alignment with our business strategy,” said John Meredith, group managing director of HPH.
HPH has container terminal facilities at Thai Laem Chabang terminal, and is developing six container terminals at Hutchison Laemchabang terminal.
