Dematic acquires Australian AGV manufacturer

The Atlanta, Ga.-based supply chain technology firm purchased NDC Automation, an automated guided vehicle and software provider in Australia and New Zealand, for an undisclosed sum.

Atlanta, Ga.-based supply chain technology firm Dematic has reached an agreement to acquire Australian automated guided vehicle manufacturer and software provider NDC Automation, according to a statement from the company.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Dematic said NDC Automation will continue to operate under the same trade name in the Australia and New Zealand markets during the transition period, but will be rebranded globally as Dematic.
The acquisition “enhances our ability to design, deliver and deploy global AGV solutions that move, store and/or retrieve goods,” Dematic President and CEO Ulf Henriksson said of the deal. “The NDC portfolio expands upon an existing portfolio that will dynamically optimize the movement of raw materials or finished goods as they move throughout a facility, including software that provides real-time information addressing material flow metrics.”
“The NDC Automation team is excited to join the Dematic organization and leverage our technology, deep breadth of experience and provoking thought leadership in the area of goods transportation,” added Tommy Eklof, NDC Automation CEO. “We look forward to offering our combined technology solutions to create competitive advantage for the Dematic and NDC customer base.”
Dematic employs around 5,000 logistics professionals in engineering centers and manufacturing facilities across the globe.
