NCBFAA, NIT LEAGUE TO STUDY VALUE OF NVOCC TARIFF
The National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America and the National Industrial Transportation League have launched a study to determine the value of non-vessel-operating common carrier tariffs in the post-Ocean Shipping Reform Act environment.
The industry groups will ask their members to consider the role that tariffs play in shippers’ decision making and what the cost is to NVOs to produce and maintain them.
The information collected from this study may be used to petition the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission to exempt NVOs from the tariff-filing process.
