ITALIA/CMA/EVERGREEN MED/U.S. SERVICE TO SPLIT

ITALIA/CMA/EVERGREEN MED/U.S. SERVICE TO SPLIT

The joint Mediterranean/U.S. East Coast weekly service of Italia di
Navigazione, CMA-CGM and Evergreen Line will end in about one month’s time, as many of the
Mediterranean/U.S. carriers regroup within new alliances.

CMA-CGM will withdraw its two ships from the trade and buy space on the
vessels of another carrier group, a spokesman for the French carrier said. Negotiations
are under way and CMA-CGM will remain in the trade, he said.

Italia, now owned by the D’Amico shipping group, will also pull its two
ships from the 4-ship Italia/CMA-CGM service, and will instead buy slots on the
transatlantic leg of Zim’s Mediterranean/U.S./Asia service.

Evergreen is also engaged in talks about the continuation of its service.
Details of its new service will be announced shortly.
