ATLAS AIR APPOINTS ERICKSON PRESIDENT, COO
Atlas Air Inc., the subsidiary of Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings Inc., has named Jeffrey H. Erickson president and chief operating officer, succeeding Jim Matheny, who is retire.
Erickson, who takes over Sept. 1, is a 30-year veteran of the domestic and international airline industry.
'Since the acquisition of Polar Air Cargo by Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, Jeff has led our efforts to identify ways for both Atlas Air and Polar to operate more efficiently under the same holding company,' said Richard Shuyler, chief executive officer of Atlas Air and Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings.
Before joining Atlas, Erickson was president and CEO of Trans World Airlines from 1994 to 1997, following its re-emergence from bankruptcy. He was president and CEO of Reno Air from 1990 to 1994, after serving as president and COO of Midway Airlines. He also had operations experience with Aloha and Continental airlines.
Atlas Air, based in Purchase, N.Y., provides charter of freighter services, including aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance.
