Port of Long Beach again sees record TEU levels
The Port of Long Beach said Thursday that container volumes for August have again set records for the port.
Inbound containers for the month totaled 306,124 TEUs, up 11.4 percent from the same month in 2004. The port handled 110,750 TEUs in outbound containers, a rise of 39.6 percent. Empties, meanwhile, rose 19.1 percent to 198,487 TEUs, while total container volume in August was up 18.1 percent over August 2004 at 615,361 TEUs.
For the year-to-date, the port's loaded volume has risen 17.4 percent to 2.97 million TEUS, while empties have jumped 29 percent to 1.37 TEUs.
