Port of Zeebrugge thrives in automotive sector

The Belgian port handled its one millionth vehicle for 2015 in June at the Toyota Motor Europe Terminal.

   The Port of Zeebrugge announced it handled its one millionth vehicle for 2015 in June at the Toyota Motor Europe Terminal.
   Toyota is the largest brand at the Belgian port, but Zeebrugge said in a statement that all of its automotive terminals are thriving.
   In 2015, International Car Operators Zeebrugge attracted 110,000 Peugeots for the British market from France and 30,000 Honda’s for the European market from Mexico.
   In 2014, the Port of Zeebrugge handled a total of 2.2 million new vehicles.
   The port authority also announced it will build additional infrastructure in the Southern Canal Dock in the inner port and deploy more terrains in the inner port in order to handle the increase in vehicle flows.
