African Growth eligibility under review

USTR undergoing annual check for unilateral U.S. trade preference program for countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

   The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) is seeking comments for its annual review of country benefits under the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).
   The interagency Trade Policy Staff Committee AGOA Implementation Subcommittee will hold a public hearing on AGOA country eligibility at 10 a.m. Aug. 16 in Washington, D.C.
   The deadline for requests to appear at the hearing and for prehearing briefs, statements or comments on sub-Saharan African countries’ AGOA eligibility is Aug. 1, USTR said. Aug. 23 is The deadline for post-hearing briefs, statements or comments is Aug 23.
