Sea Star to bump up intermodal fees

Sea Star Line plans to increase its intermodal fuel charges in the coming weeks for its Puerto Rico and Eastern Caribbean services, citing significant changes in costs from its inland intermodal service providers.

Sea Star said it would increase the intermodal charge for local shipments close to its Florida ports of Jacksonville and Port Everglades to $53 per container, up from $50. For Florida shipments beyond those local zones, the fee will increase to $145, from $135.

The fee change will take effect Dec. 30 for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. For the Eastern Caribbean service, the fee will go up Jan. 20.

Specific fees for shipments that have a terminus in states other than Florida can be found on the Sea Star Web site at.
