Boeing venture to manage parts for African airline
Kenya Airways has outsourced inventory control for parts and repairs for its Boeing 777 planes to Boeing Co. and its partner Air France Industries.
Under the service parts logistics contract, the joint venture will ship components, such as avionics boxes and precision mechanical assemblies, within 24 hours to replace faulty units.
Boeing claims the program can save an airline up to 30 percent of its component repair and inventory costs.
Kenya Airways is the sixth customer of the Component Services Program offered by Boeing and Air France Industries.
