YANGMING ABSORBS KUN MING SUBSIDIARY INTO GROUP
Taiwanese shipping line Yangming Marine Transport said that it has decided to integrate the activities of its subsidiary Kung Ming Marine Transport into the group.
Kung Ming, also based in Taiwan, has operated a Hong Kong/Taiwan shipping service under a joint venture with Yi-Tong Shipping Co.
Yangming will now integrate the service into its own intra-Asian business, while continuing the venture with Yi-Tong Shipping.
Meanwhile, marketing and staff at Yangming will be partially reorganized. A new department of “China marketing and pricing” will be added to handle the business between Taiwan and mainland China. Kung Ming’s organizations in Hong Kong and China will be enlarged, and a customer service department will also be established.
The carrier said that the integration of Kun Ming into the group would “provide its customers with more rapid, more intensive, and more competitive sea transport services.”
Yangming said that it will now conduct customs clearance for goods shipped between Keelung/Kaohsiung and Hong Kong from Monday to Friday, five days a week, and between Taichung and Hong Kong, four days a week..
