Port of Vancouver, Canada, names Adams chairman

   Directors of the Vancouver Port Authority, in Vancouver, Canada, have elected George A. Adams as the authority's chairman. Adams succeeds David Stowe, who served two three-years as chairman.

   Adams was most recently chairman of the port authority's governing committee. He had been vice president, transportation, for MacMillan Bloedel, retiring in 1997. Previously, Adams was also president and chief executive officer of Canadian Transport Co.

   The directors of the port authority also elected John T. Willcox as vice chairman. Willcox retired as chairman and CEO of Neptune Terminals in 2001.

   The port of Vancouver, the largest in Canada, traded $29 billion in goods in 2004.
