Volga-Dnepr’s revenues top $300 million
Volga-Dnepr Group, parent company Volga-Dnepr Airlines, the Russian outsize and heavyweight cargo airline, reported revenue for 2004 of more than $300 million, the second-highest result in the company’s 15-year history.
Volga-Dnepr said it controls about 54 percent of the global outsize and heavyweight air cargo transportation market, with transportation volume for the year reaching 431,973 ton kilometers.
In May 2004, Volga-Dnepr launched the scheduled cargo airline AirBridge Cargo (ABC), alongside the existing Volga-Dnepr Airlines. ABC performs scheduled cargo flights between Europe and Asia using Boeing 747 freighters, making it the first Russian airline to use such aircraft.
In its first eight months of operation, ABC carried some 17 000 tons of cargo, posting revenues of approximately $45.8 million, Volga-Dnepr said.
