Katims takes new job at Kings Point

Ronald M. Katims, a former president of Navieras de Puerto Rico and executive at Sea-Land Service, has been appointed as the first holder of the Crowley Chair in Logistics and Intermodal Transportation at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

Katims’ job is to enhance the academy’s visibility and stature in the field and provide midshipmen and faculty with unique perspectives through teaching and public lectures.

He will also assist midshipmen in finding internships and building careers, help organize conferences and seminars, and advise the academy on further refining and expanding its Logistics and Intermodal Transportation Program.

The Crowley Chair was established through a $2 million endowment by Crowley Maritime in memory of Thomas B. Crowley Sr., the late leader of the firm.
