EVA transfers sensitive factory equipment to China
The cargo division of Taiwan’s EVA Air recently completed transporting an entire high-tech manufacturing plant from Taipei to a new site near Shanghai, China.
It took EVA Air Cargo 10 trips during June to completely move the entire 500-metric ton assembly line for the wafer fabrication plant to the new factory. Operational logistics were complicated by China’s ban on direct air traffic between the countries across the Taiwan Strait. EVA said it transported the machinery on a B747-400 freighter to Macau, where it immediately transferred the shipment to a waiting 747-200 freighter from cargo partner Shanghai Airlines for the trip to Shanghai.
