MarAd approves three vessel flag transfers
The U.S. Maritime Administration has approved applications to transfer three vessels from U.S.-flag to foreign-flag registries.
Western Overseas of Toledo, Ohio, received approval to sell the 75,272-gross-ton oil carrier, “North Slope” to Snow Drop Co. Ltd. in the British Virgin Islands for transfer to the St. Vincent and The Grenadines registry and flag. The vessel is destined for scrapping in China. The “North Slope” was built in 1979 in Avondale, La.
Seasafe LLC of Mesa, Ariz., has received approval to sell the 2,938-gross-ton deck barge “Red Barge” to Global Rigging & Transport Canada Corp. for transfer to Canadian registry and flag. The vessel was built in Portsmouth, N.H. in 1943.
Canal Barge Co. in New Orleans received approval to sell the 2,540-gross-ton deck barge CBC 2264 to Transatlantic Cement Carriers for transfer to Panamanian registry and flag. The vessel was built in New Orleans in 1982.
MarAd must approve flag transfer applications under section 9 of the 1916
Shipping Act.
