ITC PROBES COMPETITIVE CONDITIONS OF U.S. STEEL-CONSUMING INDUSTRY
The U.S. International Trade Commission has initiated an investigation into the current competitive conditions facing the U.S. steel-consuming industries with respect to tariffs and tariff-rate quotas on imports of certain steel products imposed by the Bush administration.
The House Ways and Means Committee requested the investigation. The ITC must complete the investigation for the committee by Sept. 20.
The agency is seeking input from interested parties. It plans to hold a public hearing at its Washington headquarters on June 19. For more information, access ITC’s Web site at http://www.usitc.gov.
