REVENUES ROSE 23% IN 2002 AT EVERGREEN’S LISTED ARM
Evergreen Marine Corp. (Taiwan) Ltd., the stockmarket-listed arm of the Taiwanese transportation and hotel group Evergreen, reported that its revenues increased by 23 percent last year, to NT$65.9 billion ($1.9 billion), from NT$53.5 billion in 2001.
For the month of December alone, revenues soared by 58 percent, to NT$7.1 billion ($203 million).
The higher revenues at Evergreen Marine Corp. (Taiwan) for 2002 follow a reduction in its revenue during 2001.
Evergreen Marine Corp. (Taiwan) is the parent company of Lloyd Triestino, the Italian shipping line, and Hatsu Marine, based in the United Kingdom. The company also has a stake in the Eva Airways airline of the group.
Changes in revenues at Evergreen Marine Corp. (Taiwan) are traditionally difficult to interpret, because the Taiwanese group operates several international shipping subsidiaries and transfers vessels between them. The main private subsidiary of Evergreen is understood to be Evergreen International, based in Panama.
