OLYMPIC PANEL CONTRACTS WITH SCHENKER
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced a long-term strategic partnership with Schenker AG, a provider of logistics and forwarding services.
Under terms of the pact, Schenker will supply the IOC with freight forwarding and customs clearance services for the Olympic games in Athens, in 2004; in Turin, in 2006, and in Beijing, in 2008. Schenker will also assist in most IOC meetings and sessions.
Jacques Rogge, president of the IOC, said that the Committee had sought “continuity from one edition of the Olympic Games to the next.”
Schenker has been “a sponsor of the Sydney 2000 and Salt Lake [City] 2002 Olympic Games” and has worked “directly with the IOC for the past four years,” according to a statement from Schenker headquarters in Essen, Germany.
