Hybrid RTG achieves 74 percent fuel savings
TSI Terminal Systems Inc. and Railpower Technologies Corp. said they have completed preliminary testing of Railpower’s first ECO Crane hybrid power plant recently installed on one of TSI’s 60-ton rubber-tired gantry cranes.
This installation is the first of three units slated for TSI’s terminal in Vancouver
The diesel/battery hybrid power plant has achieved 74 percent fuel savings during the tests, consuming about two gallons per hour compared to for eight gallons per hour on conventional diesel generators used on conventional RTG cranes of the same size.
