MAERSKÆS OCEANIA SERVICE BEGINS; CALLS PHILADELPHIA FIRST
Maersk Sealand’s new Oceania service made its inaugural call at Philadelphia's Packer Avenue Marine Terminal on Oct. 4, with the arrival of the 2,200-TEU “Marivia.”
The first call brought a consignment of refrigerated imports from Australia and New Zealand.
The 110-acre terminal, operated by the Holt family, is served by five gantry cranes, has 2.2 million cubic feet of on-dock refrigerated warehousing as well as more than 400 power points for refrigerated container storage.
About $10 million will be invested in new gantry cranes for the terminal, to be delivered in early 2003.
