HUGHES NETWORK SELECTS VASTERA FOR EXPORT PLATFORM
Hughes Network Systems, a provider of satellite communications products, has contracted with Vastera Inc., a provider of trade management solutions, to manage Hughes Network’s shipments to Europe.
By using Vastera’s TradeSphere Exporter platform, “we anticipate fewer issues associated with international shipments and quicker identification and resolution of those that do arise,” said Ray Duncan, supply chain manager for Hughes Network Systems Europe.
Hughes Network makes satellite dishes, Direct TV systems, and communications equipment for space platforms. Because many of its products enable secured communications, their sale and distribution are frequently controlled by government agencies involved with national security. For that reason, the company must prepare trade criteria before it can export goods.
The Vastera platform will automate export functions and share data with Hughes Network’s supply chain partners.
Vastera is based in Dulles, Va. Hughes Network has its headquarters in Germantown, Md.
