UPS Freight adds LNG trucks to fleet

The LTL carrier said the 64 new liquefied natural gas tractors will join its operation in Harrisburg, Pa.

UPS Freight has added 64 liquefied natural gas (LNG) tractors to its fleet domiciled in Harrisburg, Pa.
The addition will increase the less-than-truckload company’s natural gas fleet to 2,500. The company first started using LNG tractors in package operations more than a decade ago, said Willie Rivero, UPS Freight’s vice president of fleet.
The new tractors replace older generation diesel-engine power units and will be used on designated LTL routes. They are expected to reduce tailpipe emissions and average 600 miles to the tank, the company said.
