MAERSK LOGISTICS UPGRADES ONLINE INFORMATION SYSTEM
Maersk Logistics, the international logistics company owned by the A.P. Moller group, has upgraded its online information system by launching a module called M*Power Report Builder.
The reports module allows users to create and schedule more comprehensive reports via the browser interface, providing fast Internet access to comprehensive supply chain visibility. It can generate exception reports on the Internet, based on real-time information. Previously, Maersk Logistics provided this functionality mainly based on a personal computer interface with remote-access daily downloads.
The reports module “enables the customer to build his own reports pertaining to his supply chains,” said Soren K. Brandt, managing director of Maersk Logistics. The reports module is part of the company’s M*Power Suite of supply-chain management applications, available in both browser-enabled and remote access versions.
Maersk Logistics said that it is also making its generic reporting and information tool, and its airfreight online information system, more widely available to customers.
Timely access to high-quality data “translates into better inventory management, better forecasting and a more accurate decision-making process,” leading to lower costs, Maersk Logistics said. The company said it has invested considerable resources in building its IT systems.
Maersk Logistics comprises the former Sea-Land Logistics/Buyers and Mercantile Logistics companies.
