VANGUARD LOGISTICS EXPANDS INTO NEW ZEALAND
Vanguard Logistics Services, the neutral warehousing and logistics operator, will expand into New Zealand Nov. 1, and will begin handling cargo on behalf of AFS Freight Management NZ Ltd. and Direct Container Line Ltd.
Vanguard, which opened its first locations in the United States in 1998, will open offices in Auckland and Wellington, New Zealand. The company will manage loading and devanning of containers through a corporate agreement with Tapper Transport Ltd.
Chris Eastwood has been named country manager for Vanguard Logistics Services (NZ) Ltd. He managed AFS in New Zealand for five years.
Vanguard will also provide documentation services for AFS and DCL in New Zealand, including issuing bills of lading, invoices for export services, delivery arrival notices and handling delivery orders for import services.
Vanguard has 16 offices in North and South America, Europe and Australia, as well as the two new offices in New Zealand.
AFS, based in Sydney, is one of the region's largest neutral ocean consolidators, moving more than 30,000 containers from its offices in Australia and New Zealand.
DCL is the largest neutral non-vessel-operating common carrier handling exports from North America to the South Pacific.
