AVIATION SECURITY IS TOP PRIORITY AT ICAO METING
At the International Civil Action Organization will focus on aviation security at its 33rd session, to be held Sept. 25-Oct.3 in Montreal.
“For the first time, aircraft have been used as weapons of mass destruction,” said Dr. Assad Kotaite, president of the Council of ICAO. “Our primary objective at this assembly is to identify the means by which we can eradicate this new threat and restore confidence in a system that remains fundamentally safe, secure and efficient.”
The agenda of the ICAO assembly, normally held every three years, includes a full review of ICAO’s since the group’s last meeting, the election of the 33-member executive council of the organization, and consideration of upcoming projects pertinent to the organization. A news conference will be held following the official opening of the assembly on Tuesday.
