HYUNDAI TAKES SPACE ON TWO ASIA/AUSTRALIA LOOPS

   Hyundai Merchant Marine will start offering another two weekly Asia/Australia liner services next month by taking space on the services of the Anscon conference carriers.

   Hyundai will have 100 TEUs a week on the China/Taiwan/Australia “loop 1” service of the Anscon group and another 100 TEUs a week on the group’s Japan/Korea/Australia “loop 2” operation.

   The other ocean carriers that have space on the joint Anscon services are ANL Container Line, “K” Line, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, NYK, OOCL, P&O Swire, Yangming Marine Transport and Zim Israel Navigation.

   Hyundai said that it expects to carry 20,000 TEUs a year on this route.

   Hyundai’s existing Singapore/Australia service is not affected by the addition of the new loops.

   The loop 1 service has a port rotation of Qingdao, Shanghai, Keelung, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Shekou, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Keelung and Qingdao. Loop 2 vessels call at Yokohama, Shimizu (monthly), Yokkaichi, Nagoya, Osaka, Hakata (fortnightly), Busan, Sydney, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Yokohama.
