LUFTHANSA LOWERS FUEL SURCHARGE AGAIN
Lufthansa Cargo said it would reduce its fuel surcharge by 5 euros/cents per kilogram to 10 euros/cents, effective May 6. It is the second such reduction since April 7, when Lufthansa reduced the surcharge from 20 euros/cents to 15 euros/cents per kilo.
Lufthansa said its decision was based on the continuing decline in crude oil and kerosene prices.
The move will likely have a ripple effect because Lufthansa's Cargo Fuel Index is used by many air-freight carriers as a fuel surcharge benchmark.
