CHINESE GOVERNMENT LEARNS ABOUT U.S. EXPORT CONTROLS
A group of four Chinese government officials met with the U.S. Commerce
Department’s Bureau of Export Administration this week to learn more about U.S. export
controls.
The officials from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic
Cooperation are particularly interested in export licensing requirements.
"They’re sitting down side by side with our licensing officers to learn
about our processes," said Ian Baird, deputy assistant secretary of the
Export Administration. "This will help both countries to improve how export
transactions are handled."
The Export Administration says that by working with the Chinese
government will help to prevent transshipping of goods to parties outside
licensing agreements.
The Chinese officials are expected to conclude their visit Friday.
