Second large container berth at Yantian
Yantian International Container Terminals, the South China terminal operator, has commissioned the second container berth of its “phase III” development, following the launch of the first berth in mid-October.
Both berths can accommodate vessels of 100,000 tons, with a water depth of 16 meters.
The two berths have been equipped with seven quay cranes and 27 rubber-tired yard cranes. An area of about 140,000 square meters of container yard has been completed to support quayside operations.
The remaining two berths of phase III will be completed by the middle and end of 2004, respectively.
