U.S. awards $500,000 to Thailand for security initiative
The U.S. Trade and Development Agency has awarded Thailand a $500,000 grant for supply-chain security improvements.
The money will be used for an “end-to-end” supply chain security system demonstration between the ports of Laem Chabang and Seattle.
The project, known formerly as Bangkok/Laem Chabang Efficient and Secure Trade (BEST), brings together transport security improvements and “capacity building” between shippers, port operators, and public officials, the agency said.
Savi Technology, a San Francisco-based developer of container sealing and tracking technology, will perform the demonstration. The results of BEST will be showcased at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation’s CEO Summit in Thailand in October.
