YANGMING ADDS FOURTH 5,500-TEU SHIP TO ASIA-EUROPE ROUTE
Yangming Marine Transport has christened a new 5,500-TEU post-Panamax containership, the “Ming Bamboo.” The new vessel will be operated on the route between the Far East and Europe.
The vessel is the fourth of a series of seven new 5,500-TEU ships built for the transpacific and Asia/Europe trades for Taiwanese carrier Yangming.
Yangming also said that, on March 26, it took delivery of the fifth 5,500-TEU ship in the series, the “Ming Pine,” from the China Shipbuilding Corp. shipyard. The final two of Yangming’s seven new 5,500-TEU ships will be delivered by December. It is expected that five out of the seven vessels will enter the transpacific trade as part of a joint service with COSCO Container Lines and “K” Line.
