Freight delays lead CN to raise demurrage charges in Ontario
Canadian National Railway will increase storage charges for import containers at its Brampton Intermodal Terminal in Ontario beginning July 19, FedEx Trade Networks said in a bulletin to customers.
Containers left beyond the two or three day free period will be docked $200.
The decision is designed to get shippers and trucking companies to pick up containers on a timely basis to relieve congestion at the terminal.
